Spammers on IETF-charsets

Lately I have been bombarded with advertisements and other spams, all 
sent through the IETF-charsets mailing list (based on examination of the 
headers).

Almost every other mailing list I am on is closed to posts by 
non-subscribers, to prevent precisely this kind of intrusion. Can we 
please close the ietf-charsets list to posts by non-subscribers?
