Re: IANA Character Set Registration Submittal

Hello Alexei,

Ned Freed and I have been appointed as new charset reviewers
shortly after you sent this registration request.

Your registration seems to use an old form. Please use the
one you can find in section 5 of
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2978.txt.

Also, I'm guessing that
<http://www.sci.kz/~sairan/kazcode/TableA.html>http<http://www.sci.kz/~sairan/kazcode/TableA.html>://www.sci.kz/~sairan/kazcode/TableA.html
is saying that this table is identical to windows-1252
(CP 1252) except for the code points in light or dark blue.
If you can confirm that, it might be valuable to add
this information to the "Additional information:" part
of the registration form.

Is this a name that is already in use? The ISO code
for Kazakhstan is "KZ", so KZ-1048 might be more
natural. Another choice might be STRK1048-2002
(my transliteration of the label used on
http://www.sci.kz/~sairan/kazcode/TableA.html below
the table; if I made a mistake, please correct me).
The table at http://www.sci.kz/~sairan/kazcode/TableA.html
does not use a hyphen, i.e. RK1048. That would be fine
as a charset label, too.

In general: Propose (or confirm) the label that is
in widest use already. If other labels are also in
use, list them as aliases. Don't create any new
aliases.

Can you provide an appropriate English translation,
and/or a transliteration?

I'm sure you can do a bit more. I'm sure not too much
more work is needed :-).

Regards, Martin.
